Working within the framework of familiar silhouettes, we strip/edit the basic male wardrobe to its essentials,
paying special attention to the craftsmanship and materiality of each classic body.
Seasonal collections explore the dichotomy of the social pressure to conform and the innate desire to be distinct.
STONE began as one shirt in five interpretations. This initial study of the form and function of garments led to the design philosophy which guides STONE today.
After initially working with production houses in New York’s Garment District, the emerging designers sought a studio who could provide more attention to detail and a focus on small-batch production.
They took their search uptown and found a veteran tailor who had been working with Hermes, Chanel, Oscar de la Renta and other neighboring shops for over 20 years on Madison Avenue.
This partnership instills tailor-made craftsmanship into each garment and also allows each garment to be made to order. Seasonal collections are a limited release of key staples every STONE guy needs in his wardrobe.
STONE was founded by Dana Mason and Bradley Dakota Smith in 2013. They draw from collective experience at PR Consulting, Barneys New York, and Condé Nast International.
Dana graduated from St. John's University and until recently, worked as a management consultant at PwC. Dana currently works on a business innovation team at Samsung.
Dakota began his career as a model in Milan. He made his way to NY shortly thereafter and has worked for brands such as The Chateau Marmot, SoHo Grand, and The Mercer. Dakota is currently studying hospitality and design at Cornell University.
