Spring 2016 Collection

The STONE Spring 2016 menswear collection is mod and plucky, with an air of jaded sophistication - fitted for an impromptu beach riot or night of mischief. While not an outward rebellion, the collection represents the dichotomy of reckless urges tempered by social constraints.

While STONE always exudes a sense of impish moodiness, newspaper photographs of British beach riots captured this season’s vision of youth unrestrained. In May of 1964, thousands of stylish youth retreated from London to converge upon a number of beach towns in southern England, where feuding ideals erupted into tidal slugfests. The stark contrast of teens fighting in the ocean tide while wearing fitted suits and dress shirts delighted the designers, who mourn the loss of their unfettered youth.

The muted color palette is boyish and nautical, with shades of blue and green complimented by pale yellow, khaki, and white. Details include an extended STONE collar on polos and dress shirts and raw hems on lounge tees. Tactile fabrics include ribbed cotton, lightweight wools, sheer poplin and brushed linen. Bouclé beach bags, knee-length linen jackets, gabardine moto jackets, and severed fish head embroideries add doses of cliché luxury and subtle gore.
